Extended warranty company ratings

Sixty-nine providers, scored against the public record. Every figure below is dated, sourced and reproducible — and where the record does not support a number, we say so rather than inventing one.

How to read this table. A BBB letter grade measures responsiveness to BBB, not claim performance — several A+ companies here carry customer-review scores below 2.0. The score in the first column blends five weighted components, all published on the methodology page. Data collected .

Where the numbers come from

  • BBB — grade, accreditation, customer-review score and complaint counts read directly from live bbb.org business profiles on the collection date. Complaint counts are BBB's own "closed in last 3 years" figure.
  • Trustpilot — public profile scores. Trustpilot blocks automated retrieval, so we publish the score and deliberately omit review counts we could not verify.
  • ConsumerAffairs — star score and review count where a profile exists.
  • Google — shown only where a rating is attributable to a named source. Most providers in this category have no consolidated Google Business rating.
  • Regulatory — federal enforcement records, state insurance department orders, state attorney general filings and federal court dockets.
  • Member ratings and complaints — filed by account holders through their WCN account. Once a company has at least three member signals, they form a sixth scoring component worth 15% of its score. See the methodology.

Two cautions on comparability

Manufacturer and dealer-channel products are not directly comparable to direct sellers. Factory plans (Ford Protect, Honda Care, Mopar and the rest) and dealer-desk products (Ally, EasyCare, Zurich, CarMax) are sold by large corporate groups whose BBB profiles cover vehicle sales, financing and service — not the contract. Those figures cannot fairly be read as product ratings, and we flag it on each record rather than quietly averaging it in.

Small samples are not verdicts. A 2.45 review score built on eleven reviews tells you very little. Where the sample is thin we say so on the record and weight it down — the underlying counts are in the table so you can judge for yourself.
